I spent 2 summers as a teenager working at the carousel in my home town. I read my summer reading books while going in circles, checking passengers, cleaning the poles, making sure no one hit the horses with the lap belts and chipped the paint, and of course I flirted with the boys I worked with.
I scarcely remember the passengers, the sweet innocent kids and their parents so excited to share this experience with them.
Well with time and some kids of my own my perspective has changed.
Kev., his dad, and I took the boys for a carousel ride at the museum we visited the other day:
-C didn’t crack a smile, but he did turn to Grampy and say “fun”
-V and -K rode the horses and then the second time around sat in the chariot with me.
We visited our neice, Kevin’s sister and her husbands’ child -K, at the hospital today. Weighing in at 4lbs 14oz and 19″ long she is quite a peanut. Her parents looked so relaxed and happy with her. I hear say that big brother and big sister can’t wait to get her and mommy home. Tonight hopefully.
