For the snow falling this day before Thanksgiving morning-
For frolicking happy boys-
For sleepy cooing babies-
For a cozy house warmed by a wood stove-
For yummy food that fills our tummies-
Thank you for tangible ways for my boys hearts to grow, ways to share with others what you have so generously given to us…
The boys, lead by my oldest son and with a little help from Kevin and I are raising money for food banks/shelves by creating origami ornaments to give away. While we are giving away the ornament we are also suggesting a five dollar donation to the recipients local food bank/food shelf. We are not collecting any money, just trusting that those who take an ornament will then go online or send a check in the mail to the food bank/shelf when they get home.
Yesterday my oldest (whose idea this was and who loves making origami) went to school with Kevin and gave away 67 origami frog ornaments at morning mass where he and Kevin spoke about what they were doing.
Here is the web page we set up with info: Folding For Food
and a Facebook page for people to be able to post when they have donated (it will give the boys a sense of how their efforts are being received): http://www.facebook.com/foldingforfood
I am sighing in relief that we will have another focus this next month, one of giving…
Hope everyone has a very happy Thanksgiving!
